‘Serving God, Serving Sutton’

Friends of St. Mary’s: Although Church is there for the joyful times in our lives, we’re also there for support during times of hardship, unemployment, bereavement, depression or loneliness. “Friend’s of St Mary’s” is a team of highly trained and dedicated individuals who seek to support the community with their physical and spiritual needs. In November last year, our Friend’s team worked with the organisation ‘Framework’ to set up the first food bank in the area. The food bank, which opens every Friday, now supports over 50 families with food parcels every week and we’re looking to extend this valuable community service to provide hot food throughout the school holidays. If you think you might need us, or if you’d like to help us either financially or by giving of your time, then take a look at the ‘Community’ tab for more information.

I hope you enjoy reading our website. If you’re interested in joining us for any events then please feel free to come along.  If you want more information then just contact us and we’ll be happy to help you out…

Worship: From liberal Catholic worship to more relaxed and contemporary all age worship, St. Mary’s offers worship for all ages and all tastes. If you have a young family then why not try our ‘Worship4All’ services which is run on the first Sunday of every month or our Family Eucharist which is held on the third Sunday of every month. If you’re after more traditional worship then we offer a full-range of modern and Catholic liturgy all rooted in the heritage of the Anglican tradition.

If you’re new to the area, or new to church, then feel free to drop by. The service schedule is shown in the ‘Worship’ tab above where all the various services are described in more detail.

Friendship: Our church firmly believes in practising Christianity throughout the community in thought, word and deed. We offer a number of friendship and youth groups for all. Whether you’re interested in participating in crafts, debate or just fancy a drink among friends in our bar and social club, we try to cater for everyone here at St. Mary’s. Take a look at the ‘Friendship’ tab above for more information.

Education: Children are the life-blood of our community and we take considerable pride in our work with children here at St Mary’s. From our family-friendly ‘Worship4All’ services to our junior Church, children are firmly at the heart of our community.

If you have a child of school age then our church school, St. Mary Magdalene Primary School, has a well deserved educational reputation and a vibrant spirituality. Of course, education isn’t just for children.

Take a look at the ‘Education’ tab for more information

Community: Our Church is very active in the community. From arranging concerts, pantomimes and parties, we like to take every opportunity to bring joy and fun to the community. We work very closely with “The Magdalene Community Centre”, our Church Hall, who are also able to cater for private functions such as wedding receptions, Anniversary parties, childrens’ parties, Christenings or Conferences and Seminars.
